Pail Face (Johnny Sarmiento) is of Navaho descent. When you meet him, he will greet you with an open heart and playful attitude. He is a silversmith by trade and puts the heart and energy into all of his work. He also sells things that he has obtained in Mexico from the Wecholpe Indians. He will offer his knowledge to any questions that you may ask of him. He is not a person that will place himself into any situation. When he attends a powwow, he is there for the play and enjoyment of the people. He does not like to get into the politics or running of a gathering. If he is asked for his assistance within a situation, he will walk beside you until the issue has completed.
With Honor and Respect we are proud to have Pale Face as a Respected Elder of our grounds. We feel that he has earned this place on our grounds, by just being himself. We are Honored by his presents.
GRANDMOTHER GUIDING HAWK
Guiding Hawk (Barbara Casey) is of Mohawk descent. She has a strong will and will stand for her word. Guiding Hawk is a person that will put herself where she feels needed. Her passion is to assist people that have just learned about their heritage or offer to a young person knowledge for their growth. She will tuck them under her wing and teach them lessons to help them as they grow within their heritage. She teaches with a gentle firmness. The primary lesson that she offers is "Honor and Respect". She would always pull you aside and mention encouraging ways of things to try or she will introduce you to a person who will have a specific lesson for you to learn. When we have needed her, she was always there.
With Honor and Respect we are proud to have Guiding Hawk as a Respected Elder of our grounds. We feel that it is time that she is recognized for all that she has offered to the people and all of the hearts that she has touched. We are honored to have her within our lives.
